Assistant Parish Clerk Vacancy

The council is seeking an Assistant Parish Clerk and can offer the successful candidate a varied and rewarding position. The Assistant will provide support to the Clerk in her duties and help to manage the business of the council. This is a part time post for 6 hours/week. The post is based at the Parish Council office at Clyst St Mary Village Hall. There is some flexibility on when the hours are worked.

Candidates should have a good general education. Experience in local government and the public sector and knowledge of the local area would be an advantage although this is not essential. Training is offered and the successful candidate will be encouraged to study for the Certificate in Local Council Administration. Applications from anyone with a strong work ethic, excellent organisational skills, and a “can-do” attitude are welcome.

The post holder will cover for the clerk during periods of annual leave and must have the confidence to deputise. The parish council is an equal opportunity employer.

Councillor Vacancy

The Parish Council has vacant seats on the Council.

If you are interested in becoming a Councillor please get in touch with the Clerk or come along to a meeting.

The Term of Office will be from the time of being elected/co-opted until the next election.

To be eligible candidates must be aged 18 years or older and must, in addition, either be on the Electoral Roll of the Parish, or during the whole of the past 12 months have either lived in the Parish, owned or leased land in the Parish, worked in the Parish, or lived within three miles of it.

As a councillor representing your community, you will help to keep it a great place to live and work. You should have a positive outlook, can-do attitude and be willing to work as part of a team. You will be supported in your role and expected to undertake training. You should be comfortable working electronically.
